This week, we’re inviting you to the 2025 Juneteenth Breakfast — a celebration of freedom, culture, and community. As we honor Black excellence, we’re also highlighting the powerful impact of Maryland’s HBCUs, whose $1 billion+ annual economic contribution is a testament to the strength and legacy we’re gathering to uplift. And to add a little sweetness to the occasion, we’re sharing a soul-warming recipe for homemade peach cobbler.

AFRO to spotlight Maryland HBCUs at annual Juneteenth breakfast

Ahead of Juneteenth, the AFRO will honor Maryland HBCUs at its annual Juneteenth Breakfast on June 18. Bowie State University, Coppin State University, Morgan State University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore and the University of Baltimore will be recognized at the event for their vital role in advancing education and the state’s economy.
